About Me

Robert J. Braathe, MBA is a mentor and professor of entrepreneurship who has the skills and insight needed to help his clients acheive a successful business sale or acquisition.

After working in management positions with Walt Disney World, Gap, and Apple, Robert founded his company, Braathe Enterprises in October 2005. Today, his company, Braathe Enterprises manages projects in marketing, human resources and social media through a unique program called The Virtual Business Brain. This program provides companies with consulting while offering college students the opportunity to gain real world experience through virtual internships. Since 2011, over 50 students have participated. He has taught at Skidmore College, SUNY Delhi, and three area community colleges in courses that include hospitality, management, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Robert received his MBA from Western Connecticut State University and his B.A.. in Hospitality from The University of Massachusetts. In addition, he has taken PhD level courses from The State University of New York at Albany and Northcentral University.

The focus is in stimulating creative thinking to generate ideas that may be implemented in the form of a new business venture. Students are encouraged to dream and think boldly and to move beyond traditional solutions towards innovation. Innovation is the conversion of knowledge and ideas into a benefit, either for commercial use or for the public good. This course explores the role of innovation in creating new or improved products, processes, or services. Further, students will explore the entrepreneurial process of creating value through the application of creativity and innovation through the introduction of systematic ways to more effectively find creative solutions.

As such, workers and students with expertise in this field are in great demand. This course provides an introduction to the field and explains the various roles of E-Marketing in an organization's total marketing program. Students will be trained how to specifically use the internet and related technology to strategize and implement research, advertising, merchandising, customer service and other marketing mix-related functions. This is a practical, hands- on course. It explores Internet technologies as products in and of themselves, as mass and personal communications tools, and as a distribution/transaction channel. It will also address user characteristics and behavior, direct marketing and online strategies for relationship marketing. The basics of web design will be introduced.
