  • CEO (Consultant) at Teachers Notebook LLC

Location: Freehold, NJ (remotely from Austin, TX)

    Start Date: January 2013

    End Date: February 2014

Asked by the Co-Founder/CTO, a former Avanti employee and friend, to provide business and technical assistance towards growing and better positioning the B2C eCommerce site in the K-12 educational market. (Think Etsy.com or iTunes featuring teacher created, classroom tested resources offered by teacher-preneurs.) Helped the Co-Founders redesign the site and overhaul the revenue model to insure scalability and sustainability with the goal to launch a major marketing effort in 2014. Additionally, identified and created new approaches to site promotion while also expanding market outreach and brand recognition by improving social media and public relations campaigns as part of preparing for the 2014 marketing effort. Combined efforts generated in 200-300% growth in all metrics (Sales, Teacher Shops, Products, and Members) over the last 14 months when compared to initial 20 months following launch. Site traffic averaged +650K/month in Q4 2013 with 45% unique. Additional reorganization of site advertising should increase ad revenues 200% for 2014 versus 2013 and the introduction of limited email advertising to members should further increase revenues 100% or more. Created and developed multiple investor contacts then handled base negotiations which lead to the acquisition of Teachers Notebook by OverDrive with a negotiated exit strategy on my part.
