Skype is better for one-on-one conversations. It has many more features and plug-ins, which GTalk doesn't have. For group video chat, you have to get the paid version of Skype. Both have their purposes. I can't say one if better than the other. There's nothing stopping you from using both considering that both are popular.
I always use the mustaches and reindeer antlers when talking to friends and family. It's so much fun! Stephen Fiedler 9 months ago

Definitely Google hangout. You can have up to 8 people in a chat (much better bandwidth), and the video chat rotates based on who is talking. I use it for everything from conference calls to fantasy sports draft days.
I am with you on this Stephen, although a lot of local businesses are still not comfortable with Google plus and other new features. Scriptshaala Digital content 9 months ago

Will check out Google hangout. Have been using Oovoo - very similar to Skype but doesn't seem to have as many ads or strangers reaching out to connect.
