I'd say err in favor of transparency wherever possible. And even when you think "maybe I shouldn't disclose that," disclose it. The days of hiding are over - with two clicks most of your secrets are can be discovered anyway. Things move so fast, in most cases by the time the news is out it doesn't matter. Authenticity IS the currency of the social web (and your customers, sooner or later), so the benefits outweigh the risks almost all the time.
